Welcome to a brief story of David John Brothers, more commonly known as Dave.
# I was born in West Bromwich in 1956 and lived in the West Midland until I was 18.
# I attended Sheffield University and Sheffield City College, where I qualified as a teacher of Biology and P.E.
# In 1978 I began working for Dr. Barnados as a House Parent, moving to Aycliffe school in 1979, where I progressed to Deputy Housewarden
# Married Elaine, my loving and caring wife.
# Birth of my lovely daughters, Gemma in 1981 and Katie in 1984.
# After over 11 years in child care I decided it was time to move on and spent 2 years working as a trainee accountant, twice being made redundant!
# I then took a temporary, soon to become full-time, job, at HMP Durham as a Prison Auxilliary / Operational Support Grade, before moving to HMP Frankland as a Prison Officer in 1987, where I served as Branch Chairman of the Prison Service Union. I took early retirement in August 2010.
# I became Treasurer of the UKIP County Durham Branch in September 2009 and was pleased, excited and highly privileged to be selected as UKIP Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Bishop Auckland in November 2009. I won 1107 votes in the May 2010 General Election.
# I became Treasurer for the UKIP North East Region in April 2010.
# I intend to work to get UKIP represented both in Parliament and on Durham County Council, where we will work towards leaving the EU and promoting local democracy.
# In my spare time I do voluntary work for the Durham Wildlife Trust.
