First North East Wembley Final for 58 years

Almighty congratulations to Dunston and West Auckland who will meet in the first all North East Wembley final for 58 years. Not since Crook took on Bishop Auckland in 1954 have two North East teams met at Wembley in a cup final. Dunston overcame Staveley Miners Welfare and West Auckland beat Herne Bay to reach the FA Vase final at Wembley on May 13. Both clubs play their football in the Northern League and both are still in with a chance of winning the league title. Our professional teams may not be in with a chance of winning anything, but non-league football is strong in the North East.

Child Care Service Crisis?

In yesterdays Journal was an article “Warning of North East children’s services crisis.” A plea has been made by all 12 of the North Easts local councils because “in the North East almost 4,000 children are looked after by councils, the figure rising by more than 570 in the last financial year.” But why are so many children in care? Goodman Snub

Brilliant, just brilliant. The BBC News Channel coverage of the party funding debate was ended just as Helen Goodman, MP for Bishop Auckland, started to speak. She is such a star…. The other point I would make, is that comments by some of our, so called, representatives would be slanderous if made outside of parliament. Surely this is not the point of parliamentary privilege!

The End of Money

You only need to be aware that the USA economy is £15 trillion in debt to see the basic fact that stares us in the face, even though every one from the Prime Minister down has to pretend that everything is OK and that it is not happening. The fact is the money game is finished, it is out of control, running wild and can only crash. Nobody is ever going to pay back all that borrowed money, (which expands by the billions as you read this), we are not in recession we are in collapse, we are never going to start the economy expanding again so we have full employment and a contented, wage-earning proletariat, we have to stop thinking in such terms, the resources are just not there. Instead we have to start thinking and planning how to use and adapt local resources for local needs, how to expand trade and manufacturing within our local communities to be as independent as possible. It will inevitably be a world of hardship and scarcity, but it will also, if we look ahaead and plan now, be a world of adequacy, one where local food from local north east farms, such … Continue reading
