Personal Statement

I am not a career politician and the first time I stood for election was in the General Election in 2010.

I stood as Parliamentary Candidate for Bishop Auckland because of my conviction that Britain needs to leave the EU and become a free, democratic, independent country which is governed not by the faceless bureaucrats in Brussels, but by our own people through our elected Parliament at Westminster.

I am a retired prison officer, spending most of my working life as liaison officer to the education department at HMP Frankland, where I was also the Chairman of the local branch of the Prison Service Union.

I have been married for 32 years to Elaine, my caring, loving and supportive wife, who is a teacher. I have two lovely daughters, who are both now married and work in the Health Service. And I couldn´t forget my scruffy Lurcher, Skye.

If elected I will dedicate myself to getting the best for my constituency and to bringing about real local democracy.
